Prepare
Plan of Action
We have seen both rowers and parents often
paralyzed about what to do and when to start because the task seems so
daunting. Many steps need to be taken when evaluating rowing programs
as part of the college search. These steps should be taken in a timely
manner so that the information gathered can be digested by the rower and
parent in such a way as to be useful throughout the search as well as
in making the final decision. We will assist you in preparing the plan
of action and starting the process early in order to reduce stress, maximize
your options, and help you to make the best possible choice.
Navigate the
Process
We will offer our independent expertise to help guide and advise both
the parent and rower throughout the entire college search including, but
not limited to: how to manage crew in relation to the rower’s other
obligations; how to contact, communicate and present the rower to coaches;
how to evaluate rowing programs and narrow choices; how to determine the
rower’s position with respect to the prospective team.
Manage Options
without “Burning Bridges”
We have seen successful outcomes but have also observed rowers who get
“caught” in the system and are left with unsatisfactory options.
We will review direct feedback from coaches, other data and communication
in order to evaluate the rower’s position with respect to the likelihood
of support and favorable admission. We will also advise the rower on how
to communicate their options and preferences to the coaches in an attempt
to ensure the most favorable result while preserving secondary choices.
