• Discuss what
the Rower is looking for in the college rowing experience
• Overview of the college process
• Outline of initial steps
• Review the Rower’s standing on the current high school team
• Overview of Rower’s academic position
• Discussion of rowing program options (DI, DII, DIII)
• Development of Initial list of College rowing programs
• Discussion of initial plan for college visits
Continuing Consultation Services as follows:
SOPHOMORE
• Guidance on high school rowing including summer program options
• Creation of individual time line for appropriate testing and college
visits in view of school and crew schedule
• Continuing consultation at every step in the process
• Begin process of evaluating DI (Ivy League or scholarship schools),
DII, or DIII
• Implications of receiving a scholarship
• Prepare individual strategy for choosing the appropriate course
of action
JUNIOR
• Guidance on particulars of communication with college coaches
and college visits
• Development of list of college rowing programs
• Prepare parent(s) and rower for meetings with coaches
• Feedback after initial college visits and coach meetings
• Aid in narrowing target schools
• Spring and summer appropriate communication with Coaches
• Guidance on maneuvering through the system
SENIOR
• Guidance with respect to options and timing of official visits
• Narrow options to maximize choices for official visits
• Assist in coordination of official visits with other obligations
• Aid and support in decision making among college options
• Assist in communications with coaches – how to evaluate
where you stand
• Guidance on how to line up the choices and craft a proper plan
for selecting top choice while keeping options open
